Methods will vary by publisher follow the Direct Export instructions provided on the native database interface. Examples include: PubMed, Web of Science, BIOSIS, JSTOR & Google Scholar. This enables the saving of records directly into EndNote rather than having to save to a file on the desktop and then importing. DIRECT EXPORT – Capturing references from searches done in the native database interface Use: Copy References to on the References menu or Copy to Local Library button on the EndNote toolbar.
After searching, references to keep can be copied to a permanent EndNote library. Using Online Search mode, references are sent to a temporary EndNote library for preview. Online search files are also called “connection files” in EndNote. Note: You can do a custom installation of more online search files or download them from the EndNote web site.
In the left panel, select a database to search. The Connect feature is very handy for simple author or title word searches, but for complex searches you should conduct your searches in the native database interface and then export (download) your results into your citation management software.īegin by clicking the globe to enter Online Search Mode.
